In this new exhibition for the African-American Museum and Library at
Oakland, the “spoken word” is the central focus of communication. It
is conveyed through video interviews of residents of Oakland, speaking
of their life experiences with hope, wisdom and humor.
The museum is located in a historic library building. The exhibition utilizes
the existing bookcases and columns in it’s design and execution.
Large fabric banners with printed portraits, wood framed glass partitions
for sound containment and flexible seating, have been integrated to create
an inviting environment for the visitors. |
