Sunset Magazine periodically did major stories during the summer season. This illustration was also given away as a poster to subscribers. It was timed for trout fishing in the beginning of summer.

GTD had one week for concepts, one week for final layout, and two weeks to complete the final artwork. The technique chosen was a watercolor base, with color pencil detailing. GTD designed an open layout, with the trout swimming freely, to create a more dynamic composition. The Rainbow Trout, most common, was designed as the centerpiece, anchoring the entire page. The colorations were made bold and the overall effect one of an artistically intriguing and educational poster.
